Centre Recognition Workshop - Session Outcome  – 13th April 2016

A Centre Recognition Workshop was held on 13th April 2016 at One Awards office in Peterlee.

The session covered what is required for a centre to remain compliant to the One Awards or NOCN centre recognition agreement and covered assessment and internal verification practice and principles. This was also related to the relevant policies and procedures that a centre should have in place. The participants within this session focussed specifically on using assessment and internal verification processes including the use of an electronic system and how the principles of assessment were monitored through this approach. Planning for internal verification and how to develop their centre’s own strategies was also covered. Critical points from the session included the importance of planning throughout the full quality assurance process and also the place of planning with the assessment methods of professional discussion and observation. A point of discussion which will be taken forward for further guidance was in relation to the use of the term “describe” as an assessment criteria and the nature of the learner evidence which would be acceptable. The participants raised queries and concerns regarding centre recognition compliance and were able to share experience and ideas.
