NOCN responds to Select Committee Inquiry into Apprenticeship Quality

NOCN has responded to the UK Government Select Committee on Education, Skills and the Economy on the Quality of Apprenticeships and Training with a detailed submission. As the country moves away from traditional apprenticeship frameworks of qualifications to the new apprenticeship standards, with end point assessments. This is all part of a public inquiry into how the reforms are going, to identify problems and suggest solutions to make apprenticeships better.
NOCN is the market leader for apprentice EPA, we are Government-approved to deliver End Point Assessments for the most apprenticeship standards. In addition, we've been involved in the reforms from the outset so we have a lot of insight and ideas on the subject.
In summary their feedback is: we support the objectives of the reforms, being essential to give people the skills they need for rewarding careers, for employers to find the workforce they need and to improve national productivity. But, there are some factors and risks which have the potential to undermine the success of the programme, including quality assurance, data management, social mobility and system complexity.
