Making a LEAP into a career in Hospitality

Attendees on the LEAP Hospitality courses delivered through Redcar and Cleveland College were given hands on experience by Fat Brewer at their Hospitality Training Academy based in Crook, Co Durham.
This provided valuable work experience, to help them break into the hospitality industry and included a brewery tour, lessons in making cocktails and serving draught poured drinks along with interviews with employers.
LEAP – Linking Employment, Achievement and Potential
The LEAP programme is a short 6 week course that provides students with a vocational qualification, work experience and a guaranteed interview. Courses run throughout the year with and have a focus on different vocational areas. All participants are tracked for job outcomes after each course.
Previous course have included Health and Social Care and Customer Service.Many of the attendees are now in employment as a result of attending the programme.
Redcar and Cleveland College worked closely with One Awards to provide appropriate qualifications and settled on the NOCN Vocational Studies suite, QCF qualifications designed to provide learners with a solid foundation of skills and knowledge for working in a range of sectors:
- NOCN Entry Level Award and Certificate in Vocational Studies (QCF) 601/0141/6 & 601/0142/8
- NOCN Level 1 Award and Certificate in Vocational Studies (QCF) 601/0156/8 &601/0157/X
