LEAP – Linking Employment, Achievement and Potential

The LEAP programme has been especially designed for Young People across Teesside, aged 16-24. It’s a short 6 week course that provides students with a vocational qualification, work experience and a guaranteed Apprenticeship Interview. Courses run throughout the year with and have a focus on different vocational areas.

The college have worked closely with One Awards to provide appropriate qualifications and settled on the NOCN Vocational Studies suite, QCF qualifications designed to provide learners with a solid foundation of skills and knowledge for working in a range of sectors:

NOCN Entry Level Award and Certificate in Vocational Studies (QCF) 601/0141/6 & 601/0142/8

NOCN Level 1 Award and Certificate in Vocational Studies (QCF) 601/0156/8 &601/0157/X

LEAP Customer Service

Redcar and Cleveland College recently welcomed Gaynor Tonkin. Gaynor works for Ryanair at Palma de Mallorca - She spoke to both cohorts of LEAP students about the importance of providing a good customer experience.

Both groups thoroughly enjoyed the session, hearing some great examples of good and bad customer service that Gaynor deals with on a daily basis.

LEAP Horticulture

The other cohort to recently start on LEAP were all people interested in working in horticulture. It is a little known fact that the number of people employed in horticulture related businesses either directly or indirectly is one of the largest in the UK.There are horticulture related jobs in landscape gardening, green keeping, food production, garden centres, forestry etc.

LEAP Administration

11 attendees of the recent LEAP Apprenticeship programme have all had a guaranteed interview during their 1st week on the programme.

Each attendee was given an excellent opportunity to work with a local employer as an Independent Financial Advisor studying a recognised Mortgage Advice qualification along with the Apprenticeship training, over an 18 month Apprenticeship.

As each attendee is still on programme, the successful candidates will continue with their studies and will gain a work placement with the employer prior to commencing their Apprenticeship.

For further information about LEAP the college can be contacted on 01642-777247.

If you are developing your curriculum offer or would like to discuss offering any of these qualifications, please contact your One Awards Development Manager or any member of our Business Development Team on 0191-5186550.
