16th July 2019 Date of publication
Hartlepool College held their second annual Access to Higher Education Awards on Wednesday 10th July 2019.
The event acknowledges the hard work, determination and success of the students who have taken up the challenge and achieved their Access to HE Diploma. Over 100 students have completed the Access to HE Diploma at Hartlepool College this year in 6 different Diploma subject areas.
John Earland, Access to HE Manager at One Awards presented the Outstanding Commitment to Study Award.
Gemma McIver, Outstanding Commitment to Study Award
Gemma studied the Access to HE Health Diploma, she completed the course while looking after her terminally ill mother, writing her assignments while sitting at her bedside in Hartlepool Hospice, spending the nights there and attending her classes during the day. Gemma was also caring for her young children at the same time, but she never complained or even asked for extensions. Unfortunately, her mother passed away; however, Gemma only took a short time off and then returned to her studies, completing the diploma with distinctions. Gemma has gained a place to study Children's Nursing at Teesside University.
Congratulations to all the students on their achievements and we wish you every success in the next step of your learning journey.
