ESCAPE Family Support are looking for befrienders and peer mentors to help individuals and groups across Northumberland. Befrienders provide friendly contact on a regular basis, face to face or over the phone regularly checking in to see how things are or accompanying people to appointments or activities. Peer mentors are people who have lived through similar challenges to those faced by the families we support and who can use that experience to support others to move forward in a more focused way.
Janet Murphy, Chief Executive at Escape said "Our befrienders and peer support mentors provide valuable support to Escape's workers and we are always in need of people who are willing to volunteering in these roles, we have recently completed a training course in conjunction with Bridget Project where the learners received NOCN Level 2 Award in Peer Mentoring and One Awards unit Skills for Supporting Those Affected by Addiction. Support and training is ongoing throughout a volunteers time with us and there are many different ways to get involved."
If you would like to get involved please contact Mandy Robinson, Volunteer Coordinator on 07812 983720 or [email protected] for further information.
