The past 12 months has been an exciting time for One Awards. Here are some of the highlights from 2019.
Following the recent trade mission to South Africa, One Awards has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Funda Trust to act as their education advisor and accreditation partner for a project to be delivered in South Africa to raise educational standards of teachers and teaching in the rural communities and townships.
Derwentside College celebrated the achievements of their learners at an event held on Thursday 5th December 2019.
Hartlepool College of Further Education’s top-performing students were recognised at a glittering awards evening.
In October, Fabienne Bailey, Managing Director of One Awards, was invited by the Northern Powerhouse to participate in an international trade mission to Thailand and Indonesia.
We are pleased to announce nominations are open for our Celebration of Learning Awards. These Awards recognise best practice, originality and not least, achievement within learning. Our Awards focus on learners, and the people and organisations that have enabled innovative and often life-changing learning to take place in many diverse venues throughout our region and beyond.
Meeting the requirements of the new Ofsted Framework New Key Judgement Categories which include, amongst others: Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development. We aim to assist our centres in the Supporting of learner behaviour, attitude and their personal development through providing innovative and flexible accredited solutions.
On 17th October 2019 One Awards hosted its annual HE Admissions Fair for Access to HE students.
We would like to offer the opportunity to anyone studying or involved in the Access to HE Diploma to attend this free event. It is completely free and aimed exclusively at students undertaking QAA-recognised Access to HE courses. It’s an ideal opportunity for students to ask key questions in relation to planning for the future.
One Awards Managing Director, Fabienne Bailey recently visited South Africa as part of a North East trade mission with Business Durham and The Department of International Trade and Development. The aim of the mission was to build on the North East’s strong relationship with South Africa and to explore the country’s export opportunities.
One Awards recently supported East Durham Trust FEED Project by providing a donation for their food bank.

Off-the-job training is defined as learning which is undertaken outside of the normal day-to-day working environment and leads towards the achievement of an apprenticeship. The skills gap is an ongoing challenge for the UK, across a number of sectors and industries, despite many workers of all ages wanting to upskill in their current role or looking to retrain to move into a different profession. The UK is still lagging behind other countries when it comes to workforce skills and productivity, yet there are still barriers for those looking to up-skill and according to UCAS there is a declining proportion of students aged 21 and over (or mature) applying to and entering full – time higher education in the UK.
Civil Ceremonies Ltd - who offer a nationwide service to train and develop celebrants to carry out a range of ceremonies across the UK - has been rated by Ofsted as Outstanding in all five performance categories observed.
